🤔 What is Checkbox (чекбокс)

Checkbox is the most widely used cloud software fiscal register (PRRO) in Ukraine. Fiscal receipts are issued without a separate cash register machine — straight from a smartphone, tablet, computer or POS terminal. Every receipt is transmitted to the State Tax Service (DPS) automatically, and the software itself updates without your involvement.

You do not need a cash register: the register lives inside the app. It is cheaper, faster and simpler than a legacy RRO — no hardware for ₴10,000+, no paper ledgers, no manual Z-reports.

As of October 2026 more than 200,000 businesses use Checkbox. That matters practically: if your CRM, inventory system or bank already works with a PRRO, the integration was most likely written for Checkbox.

💰 Checkbox pricing in 2026

On 19 October 2026 Checkbox updated its pricing (it used to be ₴249/month per register). Current plans (official Checkbox pricing page):

• The price is charged per register: three registers means 3 × ₴348/month.
• The first 30 days are free — a trial period to test everything on your own products.
• Registering the register with the DPS is free — it is a state administrative service, not a Checkbox fee.

🧾 What is included in ₴348 and what costs extra

The most common reason people think "checkboks costs more than I expected": hardware and acquiring are not part of the plan. Here is the honest breakdown.

Included in the plan:

• a PRRO register for one outlet, unlimited number of receipts;
• inventory, sales analytics and DPS reports from your account;
• more than 200 ready-made integrations (CMS, CRM, accounting systems);
• offline mode for when the connection drops;
• a free cashier e-signature — Checkbox pays for it;
• technical support from 7:00 to 23:00, every day.

Paid separately:

• card terminal rental — ₴498/month incl. VAT, if you need a bank terminal as part of the setup;
• acquiring — 1.3% of every card payment;
• SMS receipt — ₴1.26 per delivered message (an e-receipt in Viber or Telegram is free);
• hardware — receipt printer, barcode scanner, POS terminal; bought once and it stays yours.

Two real examples. A shop with one register, a browser and its own receipt printer pays ₴348/month and nothing else. A shop that needs card payments with a terminal in the package pays ₴348 + ₴498 = ₴846/month plus 1.3% of turnover.

💸 What Checkbox costs per year: three scenarios

The monthly "₴348" looks trivial until you count a year and add hardware. Here are real amounts incl. VAT, hardware excluded:

For comparison: a legacy RRO costs ₴10,000–18,000 upfront and another ₴400–500/month in servicing — ₴15,000–24,000 a year, and that is without inventory or analytics.

Hardware is bought once and stays yours: a receipt printer from ₴3,375 (REGO P58D), a barcode scanner from ₴1,800 (SuperLead 2200), a POS terminal from ₴35,000 (catalogue). The first 30 days are free, so you can test everything on your own products before the first payment.

🆚 Checkbox, the free DPS register, POSBox or a legacy RRO

The key point: the free DPS register is a perfectly workable option if you issue five receipts a week and are ready to fill everything in by hand. As soon as you need inventory, a second location or analytics, ₴348/month pays for itself in saved time.

Important: POSBox runs on top of Checkbox — fiscalisation goes through the Checkbox PRRO. So for a shop without Checkbox the full cost is ₴348 (PRRO) + the POSBox plan. 📝 Checkbox registration and setup in Lviv

Checkbox is a cloud PRRO: no separate cash register machine is needed. Receipts are created in the app on a phone, tablet or POS terminal and reach the DPS immediately. At FD POS & IT we register the register, configure Checkbox and run a test receipt.

What you need to start:

• a qualified e-signature (Diia.Signature or a bank e-signature) — the fastest route for sole proprietors;
• the 1-PRRO and 5-PRRO applications in the DPS cabinet;
• compatible hardware — if needed, not mandatory.

How the setup goes:

1. E-signature — Diia.Signature or a bank key. Nothing moves without it, so this is always step one;
2. Register the register with the DPS — 1-PRRO and 5-PRRO applications in the Electronic Cabinet, free, usually the same day;
3. Checkbox account — create the account, add the outlet, the register and the cashier;
4. Link the e-signature and hardware — thermal printer, scanner, bank terminal;
5. Test receipt — print a receipt, a refund and a Z-report to verify the whole chain before the first customer;
6. Cashier training — 15 minutes at the register: issue a receipt, cancel it, make a refund, close the shift.

In total this is 20–40 minutes of work if the e-signature is ready. Registration without one stretches to a day or two — the key has to be issued first.

⚠️ Who Checkbox is not for

Better to say it upfront than to sell it to everyone:

• If you issue 1–2 receipts a day — the free DPS register is enough, paying ₴348/month makes no sense;
• If your locations have no internet — the PRRO offline mode is limited by law; permanent offline operation requires a fiscal register device;
• If your niche software has no Checkbox integration — you either change the software or look for a solution with an open API.

In every other case — shops, cafés, salons, e-commerce, street trading — Checkbox covers the job completely.

🛠 Can I start with no hardware at all? Yes. Receipts can be issued from a phone or a browser, and an e-receipt can be sent to the customer in Viber or Telegram for free. A printer is only needed by those who print paper receipts.

↔️ Can I move to Checkbox from another PRRO? Yes. The old register is closed with the DPS and the new one is registered with the same e-signature — goods and stock are transferred by import, and the receipt history is not lost.
